Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about ordering, shipping, and caring for live guppy feeders. Still stuck? We're a message away.
Ordering & Shipping
How are the fish shipped?
Your guppies are oxygen-packed into sealed bags inside an insulated box with a heat or cold pack as the weather requires. Orders ship overnight via a priority courier so they spend as little time in transit as possible.
When do orders ship?
We ship Monday through Wednesday to avoid weekend delays in transit. Orders placed after the weekly cutoff ship the following shipping window. You will receive tracking as soon as your box is on its way.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes β overnight shipping is free on orders over $99. Smaller orders show a flat live-shipping rate at checkout that reflects the insulated packaging and overnight service.
Do you ship to my state?
We ship to the contiguous United States. A few states restrict live aquatic shipments; if yours is one of them, we will reach out before charging you. We currently do not ship internationally.
Live Arrival & Health
What is your live arrival guarantee?
Every order is covered by a 100% Live Arrival Guarantee. If fish arrive deceased, send a photo of the unopened bags within the claim window (typically 2 hours of delivery) and we will re-ship or refund the affected fish. Full details are on our Live Arrival Guarantee page.
Are the guppies healthy and disease-free?
Our guppies are captive-bred in a recirculating, UV-sterilized system, quarantined for seven days, and gut-loaded before shipping. This dramatically lowers disease risk compared to wild-caught or bargain-vat feeders. We still recommend a quarantine/holding tank as best practice.
How big are the feeder guppies?
Most feeders run 0.4"β1.0" as mixed juveniles, which suits the widest range of predators. If you need a specific size range for a particular animal, contact us before ordering and we will do our best to accommodate.
Counts & Care
Do I really get the full count?
Yes β every order is hand-counted, and we add a courtesy overage (about 8β10% depending on pack size) to account for the rigors of shipping. You consistently receive at least the quantity you ordered.
How do I acclimate them on arrival?
Float the sealed bags for ~15 minutes to match temperature, then slowly add tank water over another 15 minutes before netting the fish into your tank. Never pour shipping water into your system. See our full acclimation guide for step-by-step instructions.
Can I keep them alive until feeding day?
Absolutely, and we recommend it. A simple cycled holding tank with a sponge filter and a heater will keep guppies healthy for weeks and let you gut-load them. Our holding tank guide walks through the setup.
Dry Food
Can I gut-load feeders with your dry food?
Yes β that is exactly what our Gut-Load Booster and Color-Enhance Flake are for. Feed your guppies a vitamin-rich diet for 24β48 hours before offering them and they pass that nutrition straight to your predators. See our gut-loading guide for the full routine.
Do your foods contain artificial dyes?
No. Color in our foods comes from natural sources like krill, spirulina, and astaxanthin β never synthetic colorants. The pouches are light-blocking and resealable to keep vitamins stable far longer than a typical flip-top tub.
How much dry food should I feed?
As a rule, feed only what your fish clear in about two minutes, once or twice a day. Our feeding calculator also estimates dry-food pairings for your specific species and setup.
Live Plants
Are the plants beginner-friendly?
Every plant we stock was chosen because it is hard to kill. Java moss, hornwort, and guppy grass need no substrate or COβ and tolerate low light β ideal for a working feeder or holding tank. Anubias and amazon sword are nearly as forgiving.
Will plants help my feeder tank?
A lot. Fast growers export the nitrate that heavy gut-load feeding produces, dense cover dramatically raises fry survival, and shade lowers stress and disease. Our guide to the best plants for feeder tanks covers placement and care.
Are the plants snail- or pest-free?
We rinse and inspect plants before shipping, but no live plant can be guaranteed 100% pest-free. If you are cautious, a quick plant dip or rinse before adding them to your display tank is good practice.
Subscriptions & Wholesale
How do bi-weekly subscriptions work?
Pick a plan and we ship that quantity every two weeks. You can skip a delivery, pause, change your plan size, or cancel anytime from your account β there are no fees or minimum commitments.
Can I change or pause my subscription?
Yes. Subscriptions are fully flexible β skip, pause, swap sizes, or cancel whenever you like. Changes made before your next billing date apply to that upcoming delivery.
Do you offer wholesale pricing?
We do. Stores, zoos, aquaculture labs, and commercial breeders can set up a wholesale account with freight pricing and standing orders. Reach out through our contact page and select the wholesale topic.
