Feeding tips
Get the most out of every feeder
The estimate is a starting point. These habits keep your predators healthy and your feeders cost-effective.
Feed to the body, not the clock
A predator’s appetite tracks its size and the water temperature. In cooler water metabolism slows, so feed less and less often. Use the estimate as a starting point and watch the animal’s belly and energy.
Don’t overfeed live food
Uneaten feeders survive in the tank, compete for oxygen, and can stress your predator. Offer what gets eaten in a few minutes, then remove stragglers to a holding tank.
Gut-load before every feeding
Feeders are a delivery vehicle. A day or two on a vitamin-rich diet turns a plain guppy into a nutrient-dense meal — the single biggest lever on your predator’s long-term health.
Keep a buffer stock
Order roughly two weeks of feeders at a time and keep them in a cycled holding tank. You’ll always have live food on hand and get the lower per-fish bulk price.
